Polygon Technology is a leading L2 platform founded in 2018. The core offering is the POS commit chain, which is technically an L1 as it has its own validator set and does not inherit its security from Ethereum, but is generally considered to be an L2 in practice. Polygon’s POS is the leader in the Ethereum ‘L2’ space in terms of transactions, addresses and TVL. Polygon has also been highly acquisitive in recent years and has used its token and cash reserves to make a number of strategic investments in the zk-rollup space.
